Is summer over?

Well this week has been odd, dark, miserable, wet and at times cold, so much so that the heating came on. Never off just set to 15 all the time. The last time I remember a summer like this we had not been married long and went to the Lake District for a week's holiday. Spent most of the time shivering under a duvet watching the tennis, so sad. From my observations it almost feels as if your summers are now April, May and June. Perhaps the Innuits are right with the Earth shifting, weather will change.

Anyway from me this week, I have started a new blog for creative musings and aded to HM this week. Will not be posting each week on there but just though a separate place to muse.

The delicious smell of lavender in my sewing room is so calming.

Black paw print doggie bags, finally got these finished after the thread arrived.

A banner for the local WI. They have changed their group name and wanted a new embroidery done. Jen admitted they could have done by hand but would have taken so long to do. Delivered and hope they are happy with it.

Back in the land of crafting

I am back to full fitness, after 4 weeks of being poorly, now creating  for my next event at Guildford Cathedral on the 29th October. Another first and so excited, Julia Langley who organises the Home & Vintage Brocantes is excellent and so well organised. Plus lovely to see an organiser passionate and caring about the event and stallholders, think this one may be a keeper.

Whilst mainly sorting some extra stock, adding details to the paypal app etc, which seems to take an age, lol, have been making, my first offering some pretty glitter baubles with added lace covers then embellished with pearls ribbons and roses.

Tasks for next week: Vintage style applique iphone cases, gold lace clutch bags with rosettes and have been asked to do a review of Matt Chapple's (winner of the Great British Sewing Bee) new book called: Make it, Own it, Love it. I think Matt was a worthy winner and cannot wait to go through his book this week.

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas

Okay I know a bit early yet but those of you that know me, know that I love Christmas with a passion. Starting with Midnight Mass, Christmas Trees, Tinsel and Glitter, delicious food and not forgetting family and friends. The song sung by Bing Crosby sums up Christmas for me, maybe old fashioned but in some ways think we all look back as to what Christmas means to us:

Memories from our childhood, when times were simple and we believed in the magic. Mother baking Christmas Pies, the smell of the turkey wafting up the stairs at 4 o'clock in the morning. The anticipation in the opening of gifts, ripping wrapping paper with excitement to discover the goodies inside. Cinnamon, roasting chestnuts, mince meat and hopefully snow with icicles clinging to the roof tops. 

What are your memories and what new ones have you made as you have got a home of your own. DH and I have no children, apart from our fur baby Shiloh but we have made our own traditions, the decorations go up on the 1st of December without fail, followed by steaming hot chocolate with whipped cream, pure decadence but delicious. A Chinese for lunch (this is a favourite and easy to cook, courtesy of Marks and Spencers) followed by a good film in the afternoon. Think this year will be X Men Past and Present. The gifts will be ready and wrapped to add to the tree, last minute lists made of food to buy and anything missed. Finally breathe a sigh of relief as Christmas Eve arrives and all that can be done is done.

Okay apart from daydreaming have been making last week, Nordic Hearts a nod to DH's ancestry. Although not a lover of red, red does belong at Christmas time and these are simple but elegant in red and white.

Plans for this week? Tealight houses using the safer battery tealights.

Another week has crept past ever nearer the festive season and another Handmade Monday with 

1st Unique Gifts and Show and Tell with the wonderful ladies from Make Mine Pink.

Good News this blog is in print, well in recommended blogs in Popular Crafts magazine along with Jills' Christmas Pie Crafts. We are both so excited  and good after all these years to be recognised. Have to buy a copy or 2 and plan to add a pagelet to my website as any press coverage is good.

Red and white tutu was the make of the weekend, took a look outside and such beautiful weather and as due to change for the worse later this week thought better try to see the lawn again and get rid of all those leaves

Door hangers one with a Father Christmas and the other with a tree and gifts, machine embroidered onto mistletoe fabric backed with white felt, a perfect decoration for any door handle.

More of these will be added over the coming weeks, with different backing fabric and designs.
