Wow Wednesday No. 20

The house is in uproar, we have the plumber in changing the ensuite and oh boy what a mess. To be fair he is very good but any work and workmen cause chaos. feel as if the house is not our own atm. Still will be wallowing in luxury when done, chose black and white with white suite, white pearl mosaic effect tiling on the wall and black glitter tiles for the floor with complimentary worktops. So swish will look more like a hotel bathroom than ours but this gives me an excuse when done to find some new towels I can embroider and accessories.

Not much to show this week as have been making more of the 'Fairy Notes' notebook covers plus the big de-cluttering which is a bit like the Tyne Bridge, never ending.

My workroom desk arrived from John Lewis, I love this store they do what they say they are going to do and their tag line 'Never knowingly undersold' is so true as have found them so much better value for money than other stores plus you get great customer service. Anyway the desk is up, boxes of 'stuff' underneath but it will get done and sorted. I love the glass top when working with mess as far more forgiving than wood.

The garden is coming along and for this year only 2 more hanging baskets and a hay basket to fill. Just hope we then get the good weather to enjoy all the hard slog. Waiting for a quote from the fencing man to fence in the back path and terrace, this is to enable Shiloh to go onto the terrace without his normal digging for Australia attempts in the main garden. Things we have to do to accommodate a dog!

The day we brought our fur baby home

Backwards and forwards to the kennel, waiting in anticipation for that special day when we could bring our new fur baby home. The day arrived and all excited, plenty of cuddles a bundle of furriness delight, Shiloh an English Cream Golden Retriever

A Scrappy Do but already pulling the heart strings to get what he wanted and future reference to being a lap dog, almost 2 years on and not much has changed except he is now 123lbs not 10lb when  he was in this picture. He is still loved and so much a part of this family, still calling the shots a constant helper in my sewing room particularly if I drop bits of fabric, trimmed from seams etc. Waist paper baskets are his playground and so much fun. Still a lap dog, ooh sooo heavy, lol.

This being our third 'Golden' know they never grow up and remain a
puppy at heart all their lives. Give them love, plenty of cuddles, fun on their walks and they repay you ten fold. A constant companion whatever you are doing, likes the kitchen but providing he is with us he is happy.

Our golden moment forever captured in time.

Flashback Friday is hosted by Melissa and a joy to join in each week

Wow Wednesday No. 19

Another Wednesday of blogging, sharing stories and makes from the last week.

It has been a tad cold here in Hampshire this last week and unsure if that is it for the summer, have we had it? or will the warmth return. Spent most of the week sorting that garden and lugging a large trolley round the garden centres, we have so many near us, spending exorbitant amounts of money on shrubs that will hopefully last and bedding plants, fingers crossed we do not get a frost. Must admit Lee (DH) has worked so hard and the garden is now looking good again. Thought we had finished with the buying and he now goes and digs another bed, hmpff! which obviously needs filling, what is he like?

After all the gardening I did get some stitching done, following on from the funky yellow 'Bee Happy' theme with a couple of frame bags, I love these so elegant and can be used every day plus a handy wristlet, these are so good when you want to travel light but big enough to hold the necessities:

Using my Big Shot new die had to experiment with this beautiful pink lace, producing a shabby chic style pin, offset with a pink diamante centre stone.

I have got a stall at the Cheeky Monkey Party run by the NCT at The Royal School the end of June, thinking cap on and as I love Fairies and Pixie's had to make something along that line and in 'Pink' just what a girl needs:

A handy little notebook encased in pretty pink glittery fabric with 'Nanny Sweets' and her wishes on the front, a perfect gift for a little girl.

Still working on some more ideas for the party event and need to sort some leaflets for my personalised party bags, as think these will go down well. I love pink and girly items, not sure as when a child more of a Tom Boy, maybe dreaming of what I should have been a young lady in pastels.

Not sure about all this frothy pink stuff, I prefer a bit of mud!

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday with Melissa

A bit more up to date from my last offering, our wedding day in September 1979. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and it was hot even if a bit of a breeze. The days when we were young no aches or pains, looking forward to a life together. 33 and a bit years later still together and loving each day we spend with each other, now having taken early retirement to pursue our dreams we work from home 24/7 and life cannot get much better. Lee was 24 and me 21, oh to be young again but with the life knowledge I have now.

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday is a new blog hop where we dig through our memories old pictures and more and we flashback to that time. Taking ourselves back to the place with as much or little detail as your heart is willing to share. To me memories are photographs or tangible items kept as treasured keepsakes of years gone by or maybe even a few months. Memories are precious, years go by friends lost along the way but nothing can stop you remembering those times of laughter, smells or taste.

My Mum and I, must have been about 3 or 4 and can remember holidaying in our caravan on Selsey Bill. Selsey is a small headland in southern England. I can remember long summer days, warm weather, smell of the sea, the taste of the ice cream (am sure ice cream is not as good as it was) trying to eat the whipped mound of deliciousness before it dribbled down my hand. Long walks along the shingle beach  with Mum, Dad and the dogs. Crunching the stones under our feet, finding shells to squirrel away and other beach combing treasures. Mum setting up her easel and watercolours to paint the coastal views. Dad sitting asleep in the chair making out he was reading the paper and must not be disturbed. Lost my Mum in 2006 but these photos keep the happy times alive.

Those times seemed gentler to me a slow amble of a pace, where people stopped and passed the time of day, days to treasure and look back and remember. When childhoods where innocent and safe filled with love and delights to find and occupy are inquisitive brains.

I hope you enjoyed my Flashback journey and look forward to reading about your memories and a special thank you to Melissa for coming up with a wonderful idea.

Wow Wednesday No. 17

Another beautiful week weather wise, the sun makes you feel so much better and continuing a theme to me of summer, afternoon tea this time cupcakes.

Treated myself to a morning of indulgence on Saturday visiting The Vintage Bazaar in Hartley Witney. Held twice a year April and September a delightful event with stalls crammed with all forms of Vintage goodies, hoping to get a stall at the September event and well worth a visit.
Other venues are the Corn Exchange in Devizes,
The Cheese and Grain Frome
and the Textile Fair in Othery

My other stop was Nature's Threads a fabric heaven, tucked away in the Kiln Workshops in Crookham Village, Hampshire. sue the owner made me feel so welcome and we had a lovely chat whilst I drooled over the fabric choices.

Beavering away at making with the delicious fabric I bought and hopefully will have more to show you next week.

Enjoy the sun and welcome the warmer weather.
