Wow Thank You Blogging Thursday No. 5

Well January has almost gone, one month down only another 11 until Christmas. Cannot believe where the time has gone with all the dreadful weather around would have thought I would have been beavering away like I don't know what but no mojo went on holiday again. Did come back for a while but not constant.

Sassy Calendar Girls

Miss May - a ladybird type of girl

Miss June - always the bride

I make large bags for a local girls school and have made the final 5 out of the normal amount they order of 60. I use small runs of fabric so that the girls can select a pattern of their choice.

Plus not being one to waste fabric managed to get 3 mini totes out of the remnant piece.

WTY Thursday No. 4

Another week and we are almost at the end of January already, Valentines day is almost upon us and now looking towards Mothering Sunday on the 10th March and Easter on the 31st March.
Have done quite a bit of making this week, well still not as much as would have liked but getting through my ideas list, then keep adding to it.

Miss March has arrived a real Celtic lass

Miss April full of the joys of Spring

The New Baby Gift Box

Have been thinking of doing this for about the last 2 years but just never happened, craft and life got in the way and one of my New Years resolutions was to achieve all the ideas on my 'To Do' list, well as many as possible added during 2012.

Here is the first gift box, perfect for a new baby with embroidered sachet, bib, mitts, bootees and some delicious Just Soaps baby soap and balm, these are the mini versions just as a taster. The box is perfect, tied with white organza ribbon and comes complete with gift tag. The embroidery design is Welcome Little One with tiny feet on the bib and sachet, feet on the bootees and hands on the mitts.

WTY Thursday No. 3

Been planning my bridal boutique collection but found this beautiful piece of purple velvet, very regal and thought would try some heavy machine embroidered lace turned into an evening clutch bag so went slightly off track.

Will be adding some silk varieties to the bridal collection but without the gusset section and adding a wrist strap

Also been working on some ideas for a new baby the first to come off the machine is an heirloom keepsake pillow with a baby in a bassinet with the name and date of birth, shown in pink but can be done in blue for a boy.

Then lost track again.......

Finally what could be better than a fun Birthday gift for a girlfriend, Mum, sister and more of the character door hanging for January and February. Will be adding March soon. Made in a spotted caramel cotton depicting a sassy lady.

Hope you all had a Happy Christmas and Santa left all the presents you wanted under the tree. Ours was low key as normal being only 2 of us plus 1 dog but we did what we wanted to do.

Well we all survived the 21st December and the world is still here although in some areas not a better place. My thoughts went out to the families in Conneticut after the dreadful tragedy which should never have happened.

A New Year and a new start,  new horizons and so many opportunities for me in 2013.
As mentioned before I love a New Year and between Christmas and the 1st always find this is the time I sit and plan for the following year, some ideas I had I have dropped others I have kept but one thing I do know am going to do it my way.

As you know September was my gift making month for Christmas and can now show you what I created:

A Leicester tigers fan, added some M & S bits, apparently it went down really well and he loves it.

Lee's cousin, again with M & S goodies

Christine who loves to read and chocolate, having moved to The Cotswolds this year thought a savings box for her choccie fund plus a book bag with some mystery books based in the same area.

Kim a very special friend a rose linen bear holding a heart with her initial and a couple of tipsy snowmen for the card, photo of the card but forgot to take a pic of the bear before wrapping and posting.

A pillow for a parsons terrier fanatic

There were a few more but as usual forgot the camera action, New Years resolution list to remember to photograph what I make.

As you can see our present list is small but I hope perfectly formed. I would rather give to select people rather than the whole street and not having children and the fact we are now both orphans does cut the numbers down a tad.

A Gift of a Year

Happy New Year

A Gift of a Year by Mira Kirshenbaum

I have had this book for sometime, recommended by some US friends, thought what better way to start the year than to commence reading.

This inspiring, one-of-a-kind book tells you how to give yourself the time you're longing for - starting right now ....with the gift of one special year.

Think we could all do with more time and broken down into 24 chapters, which to me is just 2 chapters a month plus a foreword, quite manageable. I am hoping at the end that it has helped me to rediscover me and me time. I will let you know how I get on each month plus if anyone wants to join me readily available from Amazon.
